In my book design I will be using the tools and concepts of Illustration Solutions from Lynda.com: Designing Book Covers Hands-on Workshop on a black and white photo of the artist. It is an old photo so major touch up will be required. The photo will also wrap around the entire book.
The first sketch is some font ideas and I think I really like the script font the best for the title and then maybe a more standard font for the author’s name. The treble clef I will use on the spine cover of the book which will signify that the book is about music.
The second sketch is my sketch of the black and white photo of the artist playing a guitar with a violin bow.
In this last sketch which I do not favor because it is a little too busy but I figure I share it with you anyway. The cover of the book would be in manuscript lines with music notes wrapping all around it and the photo of the artist off to side.
Leo Brouwer is a classical composer whose music has inspired my classical trainings throughout years. If any of you are interested in contemporary classical music please try Leo Brouwer’s works they are strange and amazing!
